The Chola dynasty was one of the most powerful empires of ancient South India, and their strongest ruler was Raja Raja Chola I , also known as Maha Raja Raja Chola. When he ascended the throne in 985 AD, Raja Raja Chola represented the pinnacle of Chola power and cultural achievement.
